The Brentwood Stall: European flair, right at home - June 1st 2010

For 2010, Woodstar Products is proudly showcasing the new Brentwood stall front, which features a classical European old-world style for the most simplistic yet elegant equestrian or facility owner. The Brentwood front comes with several different options to ensure the perfect fit for your most discriminating equine needs such as: diagonal or horizontal front panels, door posts (pressure treated, two required), and Finial Balls (two required) to add that tasteful, yet simplistic feel to your barn. Also adding to the artistic flair of the Brentwood stall, is the option of two different color wood stains to match or complement the interior of your barn. As if all these choices weren’t enough style for you, the Brentwood Stall front also adds the decorative hinges. Classy, indeed!

The name “Brentwood” is gaining in originality and simplicity, just like the Brentwood Stall front itself. The “Brentwood” title was derived from Gary Starck’s father, Brent Starck, the founder of Woodstar Products back in 1977. Naturally, when needing to choose a name that emulated old-world European style that meshed with modern elegance, “Brent” and “Wood” seemed the perfect fit for what would become the new “Brentwood” stall front offered by Woodstar Products in 2010.

As a recent renovation, an equine couple named Mike and Michelle Toll decided to purchase and install the Brentwood Stall fronts into their facility. As a brand-new facility, the Toll’s decided almost immediately on the Brentwood Stall front, as they thought it would fit in perfectly into their quaint, yet fashionable stable. The Toll’s were given creative freedom with one of Woodstar’s designers, until they were shown the new Brentwood design for 2010, and the rest is history.

The Toll’s did not have any stalls built into the current barn, and had been sketching out ideas and designs for around two years, until they were shown the new Brentwood design. Mike claims that the “Brentwood fronts and fencing were designed and built to be a total visual package.”

The newly installed Brentwood stall fronts on the Toll’s property matches the design and interior of the rest of their barn flawlessly, which includes the entire barn walls paneled in knotty pine tongue, and grove siding finished in a golden color trimmed with cedar in a darker finish. Once again, classic, elegant, and timeless style.

The Toll’s state that Matt, the designer at Woodstar Products, was wonderful to work with and that Woodstar was very flexible with the Toll’s certain specifications for custom-design which included their choice of southern yellow pine fronts trimmed in cedar, and custom built doors designed to their barn’s specifications. Mike Toll states the hardware included with the Brentwood “is beautiful, and has proved to be durable as well.”

The Tolls include that they chose Woodstar Products “for many reasons,” including, as number one, quality of product, design flexibility, proximity to their location, and pricing. They say that the real reason they were sold on Woodstar was after a meeting with Matt at the Woodstar booth at Midwest Horsefair back in 2008, before construction on the new stalls actually begun. He said that their complete customer service package was second to none, and that they knew Woodstar was the perfect fit for such a unique, custom project and would fit every single need. Again, Mike states that it was “Woodstar’s willingness to work with us on non standard dimensions that made them a pleasure to work with.”

Now completed, the Tolls facility houses the equestrian side of the project, which is 24’ x 60’. They built an office/tack room that is 24’ x 12’, which left 24’ x 48’ for the stalls. The barn has a row of approx. 11’-6” x 11’-6” stalls along one wall, and a 12’ wide alleyway leading out the main door. Once again, done in the classic, elegant style of the cedar and pine wood which complement the Brentwood style perfectly.

Mike Toll and his wife, Michelle, have owned the 100 acre farm since 2006. Located on around 50 acres of tillable land, where they produce and harvest their own hay, there is also 50 acres of rolling hills with an extensive trail system.

His wife, Michelle, grew up with horses most of her life, and their current project is the cultivation of her “dream barn”. The horses will be returning to their new home one at a time; Remington their 6 year old Rocky Mountain gelding is enjoying his new home already. Browning is next to be arriving, he is a one year old registered Belgian gelding. The final arrival later this year will be Jewel, a six year old Clydesdale mare that was a generous gift from Michelle’s mother and Uncle John.
